Custom Printing & Personalised Products Policy
This policy explains the terms that apply to custom printed, embroidered, branded, sublimated and otherwise personalised products supplied by T-Shirts Durban.
T-Shirts Durban provides custom printing, branding and personalised apparel services. Because customised products are produced according to customer-supplied artwork, specifications and approvals, additional terms apply to artwork, proofs, production, colour matching, cancellations and returns.
Purpose and Scope
This policy applies to products that are altered, branded, manufactured, decorated or personalised specifically for a customer.
This may include:
- Screen printing.
- Embroidery.
- Heat transfer printing.
- DTF printing.
- Vinyl applications.
- Dye sublimation.
- Custom names and numbers.
- Custom logos and corporate branding.
- Event apparel.
- School and team apparel.
- Workwear branding.
- Promotional clothing.
- Other agreed custom production.
Quotations
Custom printing quotations depend on the information supplied by the customer.
To prepare an accurate quotation, T-Shirts Durban may require:
- Garment type.
- Garment colour.
- Required sizes.
- Total quantities.
- Artwork or logo.
- Print dimensions.
- Print position.
- Number of print colours.
- Branding method.
- Delivery or collection requirements.
Artwork Requirements
Customers should provide the best-quality artwork available. Certain branding processes require production-ready artwork or vector artwork.
Preferred formats may include:
- PDF.
- AI.
- EPS.
- CDR where compatible.
- High-resolution PNG where appropriate.
Low-resolution photographs, screenshots, images copied from websites or compressed messaging-app images may not be suitable for professional production.
Additional artwork preparation, redrawing or vectorisation may be required before production.
Customer-Supplied Artwork
Customers are responsible for checking the accuracy and suitability of artwork supplied to T-Shirts Durban.
This includes:
- Spelling.
- Names.
- Telephone numbers.
- Email addresses.
- Website addresses.
- Dates.
- Colours.
- Logo versions.
- Positioning.
- Other customer-supplied content.
Intellectual Property Responsibility
By supplying artwork, logos, photographs, slogans, trademarks or other material for reproduction, the customer confirms that they have the right or permission required to use that material.
T-Shirts Durban may decline to reproduce material where there is a reasonable concern regarding copyright, trademark or other intellectual property rights.
Artwork Proofs and Mock-Ups
Where a digital proof, layout or mock-up is provided, it is intended to show the proposed branding arrangement before production.
Customers should carefully review:
- Artwork content.
- Spelling.
- Logo selection.
- Print location.
- Approximate scale.
- Garment colour.
- Names and numbers.
- Other custom details.
Customer Approval
Production may begin after T-Shirts Durban receives the required customer approval and any applicable payment or deposit.
Approval may be given by email, WhatsApp or another agreed written method.
Colour Matching
Colours shown on computer monitors and mobile devices can vary from the colours produced on physical garments.
Differences may arise because of:
- Screen calibration.
- Garment fabric.
- Garment base colour.
- Ink type.
- Printing process.
- Embroidery thread.
- Production batches.
- Lighting conditions.
Where exact colour matching is essential, this should be discussed before production begins.
Print Size and Placement
Print and embroidery positioning may vary slightly between individual garments because garments are flexible textile products rather than rigid manufactured surfaces.
The appearance and scale of branding may also differ between smaller and larger garment sizes.
Minor placement variation that falls within reasonable production tolerances is not automatically considered a manufacturing defect.
Garment Selection and Sizing
Customers are responsible for selecting suitable garment styles and sizes before customisation begins.
Size labels are not guaranteed to provide identical physical measurements across every manufacturer, garment range or style.
Where fit is important, customers should review relevant size guides or inspect samples before placing a large customised order.
Customer-Supplied Garments
Where T-Shirts Durban agrees to brand garments supplied by the customer, those garments may be handled subject to additional production risk.
Some materials, coatings, fabrics or garment constructions may react differently to heat, pressure, ink, embroidery or other production processes.
T-Shirts Durban may decline customer-supplied garments that are unsuitable for the requested branding process.
Production
Production begins once the requirements applicable to the order have been satisfied.
These may include:
Artwork Approval
Final artwork or proof approved by the customer.
Payment
Required payment or deposit received where applicable.
Stock
Garments and required materials confirmed as available.
Production Setup
Screens, embroidery files, transfers or other production requirements prepared.
Production Lead Times
Production times depend on the size and complexity of the order, garment availability, branding process, artwork preparation and current production workload.
Unless expressly guaranteed in writing, production dates are estimates.
Lead times may change if:
- Artwork approval is delayed.
- Payment is delayed.
- Stock becomes unavailable.
- The order specifications change.
- Additional artwork is required.
- Production complications arise.
- A supplier or courier is delayed.
Changes After Approval
Changes requested after artwork approval or production setup may result in additional costs and revised lead times.
Where production has already begun, requested changes may not be possible.
Additional charges may apply for:
- New artwork.
- Revised layouts.
- New screens.
- New embroidery setup.
- Replacement transfers.
- Replacement garments.
- Restarting production.
Cancellations
Customers should notify T-Shirts Durban as soon as possible if they wish to cancel a customised order.
If work has not started, T-Shirts Durban will assess whether the order can reasonably be cancelled.
Where costs have already been incurred, cancellation may be subject to charges for work or materials already committed, subject to applicable consumer law.
Such costs may include:
- Artwork preparation.
- Garments ordered specifically for the customer.
- Printing screens.
- Embroidery setup.
- Transfers already produced.
- Printing already completed.
- Other irreversible production costs.
Returns of Customised Products
Because personalised products are produced specifically for the customer, they may not generally be suitable for ordinary return merely because the customer changes their mind.
This does not remove rights a customer may have where goods are defective, incorrectly supplied or otherwise fail to meet applicable legal requirements.
Defective or Incorrect Products
If you believe a customised product is defective or does not match the approved order, contact T-Shirts Durban as soon as reasonably possible.
Please provide:
- Your order or invoice details.
- A description of the issue.
- Clear photographs where appropriate.
- The affected quantity.
- Any other relevant supporting information.
T-Shirts Durban may request an opportunity to inspect the affected products before determining the appropriate remedy.
Reasonable Production Tolerances
Custom apparel production can involve minor variations between units.
Reasonable variations may include:
- Slight print-position differences.
- Minor colour variation between batches.
- Minor garment measurement differences.
- Small embroidery position differences.
- Minor differences caused by fabric texture.
Whether a variation constitutes a defect will depend on the circumstances and applicable consumer rights.
Garment Care
Customers should follow garment and branding care instructions to help protect printed or embroidered products.
Depending on the product, good practice may include:
- Following garment washing instructions.
- Washing printed garments inside out.
- Avoiding excessive washing temperatures.
- Avoiding ironing directly over certain prints.
- Avoiding unsuitable bleaching agents.
- Following specific sublimation or embroidery care advice.
Customer Delays
Production schedules may depend on customers supplying information, artwork, approval or payment by agreed dates.
Delays caused by outstanding customer approvals or information may result in revised completion dates.
Collection and Delivery
Completed custom orders may be collected or delivered according to the arrangements agreed for the relevant order.
Customers should inspect goods as soon as reasonably practical after receipt and report any order-related concern promptly.
Courier or third-party delivery services may be subject to separate operational conditions and delays outside the direct control of T-Shirts Durban.
Samples and Pre-Production Testing
For large or technically sensitive orders, T-Shirts Durban may recommend a sample, pre-production test or physical approval before the full production run.
Sample production may involve additional costs and lead time.
Production Files and Records
T-Shirts Durban may retain order records, artwork references, production instructions and related information for administrative, quality-control, reorder, legal or operational purposes where appropriate.
Editable source files, production setup files, embroidery files, screens, templates or other production assets are not automatically transferred to the customer merely because a finished product has been purchased.
Changes to This Policy
T-Shirts Durban may update this policy where reasonably necessary to reflect changes to branding methods, business processes, suppliers, technology or applicable legal requirements.
The version published on the T-Shirts Durban website should be regarded as the current website version unless otherwise stated.
